With its green on green striped walls, red bentwood chairs and dangling bare bulb light fixtures, Café Museum looks as decidedly fresh and modern as it did when it opened in 1899!

The celebrated architect, Adolf Loos, an early proponent of minimalism, designed the konditorei in the emerging style of Art Nouveau.

His judicious use of complementary colors – red and green – make the interior bright and cheery and thoroughly modern. It provides a wonderfully rejuvenating respite when visiting Vienna.

Indeed, the light bulbs were fabulous, but the cakes were fantastic!
